Important Information:
- The official Spring 2022 Class Roster is now available. You will be able to review this listing of courses offered for Spring 2022 by filtering by Location for “Cornell Tech”. If any additional courses are available, we will announce this to students on an ongoing basis!
- Regular Enrollment will allow you a second opportunity to enroll in classes and make schedule changes closer to the start of classes. Spring 2022 Regular Enrollment begins on January 18th at 8:00am through 11:59pm on February 8th, 2022.
- Please make sure to read the class notes as this indicates if you are eligible to enroll in the class based on your academic program!
- Class meeting patterns, times, grading basis, prerequisites, etc. are published on the official Class Roster. Please follow the guidelines sent regarding remote teaching for the beginning of the term as communicated by Dean Greg

- URGENT ACTION REQUIRED: You MUST complete the Cornell University Spring Checklist before you are eligible to enroll or use Canvas. For more information, please visit the Spring Checklist page. Once you complete the Checklist, these restrictions will be removed within approximately one hour.
- Studio Maker Days are scheduled on the following dates:
- February 24th – February 25th
- March 24th – March 25th
- May 5th – May 6th (Final Presentations)
- All Studio courses will be open for enrollment during Regular Enrollment starting on January 17th. Please note 1st year Jacob students are not to enroll in Studio courses for the Spring term – you will enroll in these class during your 2nd year. For all other students, please ensure you space in your schedule to enroll in your required Studio classes. More information is provided further below in the Studio Section!
- Course Enrollment information such as how to add/drop/swap, cross listing enrollment tips, wait list processing, etc are all indicated on our Course Enrollment Page. Please make sure to review this as well!
- The Spring Weill Classes for Health Tech Students process has been completed and no further enrollments will be made at this time. For any students who are enrolled in a Weill class that wishes to drop their class, they may do so 2 weeks from the start date of their Weill class!

Class Cancellations
- CS 5740 Natural Language Processing: Note that CS 5740, one of the core NLP courses, is not going to be offered this coming Spring semester. To help mitigate the gap, we wanted to highlight other options for students interested in machine learning and natural language. First, we recommend CS 5787: Deep Learning which will cover many of the recent advances in NLP including transfer learning, language modeling, and transformers. For students with the appropriate background, we are also opening up our CS NLP PhD course CS 6741: Topics in NLP and Machine Learning to Masters students. If you are interested in taking CS 6741, please email the instructor for enrollment details. Students interested in NLP may also consider one of the many other ML related courses being offered in the spring term including CS 5670: Computer Vision, CS5304: Data Science in the Wild, and ECE 5545: Machine Learning Hardware and Systems.

Class Enrollment with Special Enrollment Process
Privacy in the Digital Age for Spring 2022.
The structure of the course has changed slightly as previously, students enrolled based on their major in the appropriate prefix (CS or INFO). Please note moving forward students will enroll based on a course track (technical vs ethical/social science focus), please see course blurb below for more clarification:
This course introduces students to privacy technologies and surveys the current state of digital privacy from multiple perspectives, including technology, law, policy, ethics, economics, and surveillance. The course offers two tracks: 1) emphasizing technical aspects of privacy and assumes technical skills; and, 2) emphasizing ethical and social science reasoning and methods. Students opting for 1) should sign up for the CS 5436; students opting for 2) sign up for INFO 5303. Lectures will be the same for both tracks; differences will be reflected in Homework and Tests.
INFO 6940: Special Topics: Technology and Social Justice with Nicki Dell (SEM 131) – requires instructor approval. Please outreach directly to Nicki Dell for consideration. Class Updates
- Class Time for INFO 5915 Remaking the City with Tapan Parikh is now being taught on Mondays/Wednesdays from 5:55pm-7:10pm
- INFO 6520 HCI Design Studio with Wendy Ju will be open to Master’s student enrollment via instructor permission! (this will be updated on the roster shortly) and is notated below in PhD classes permitted for Master’s student enrollment.
- TECH 5320 Law for Non Lawyers is confirmed to being offered in Spring 2022. This class is open to MBA and Technical students only.
Jacobs Specialization Project (INFO 5920)
1st year Jacobs Students are required to self-enroll in INFO 5920 for their Specialization Project for 3 credits this Spring term. When enrolling, please make sure that you have the credit load as 3 credits for Spring. If the credits are to be a different amount, you must consult with Deborah Estrin before enrollment.
