Cornell University requires students to have quality health insurance. Each year, all full-time registered students are automatically enrolled in Cornell’s Student Health Plan (SHP). Insurance coverage is administered by Aetna and comes with a variety of benefits. Please be sure to review all information on the Office of Student Health Benefits website. Additional information about the plan can be found below:

About the Student Health Plan (SHP)

How to waive your SHP enrollment

Eligible U.S. students may waive their SHP enrollment if they have alternate insurance that meets Cornell’s requirements.

Please note that students are not automatically enrolled in dental or vision plans. Students may enroll in Cornell’s dental and vision plans, regardless of what health insurance they have. To learn more about dental or vision coverage, please visit studenthealthbenefits.cornell.edu/dental-vision-plans
