NBAY 6031 Sustainability in Business and Tech

As technology reshapes every industry, sustainability has become central to how companies innovate, compete, and allocate capital. This course equips students with the strategic frameworks needed to understand sustainability not as a constraint, but as a driver of value creation and long-term advantage. Through case studies and guest speakers, students will analyze how established companies are transforming their business models, how tech-enabled innovators are building sustainability-led value propositions, and how investors are pursuing financial returns alongside measurable impact. The course will conclude by examining what sustainability means in the age of AI. Designed for students pursuing technology-driven careers, this course builds practical, job-ready insight that translates to better leadership and decision-making. The course is taught by Cornell alumna and current Head of Sustainability at Citizens, Rachel Mattes Greenberg.
